Tucking the Peonies in for a Long Winter's Nap

In November, when the ground is frozen solid, we cover our entire field with insulated concrete curing blankets. We often have wild temperature fluctuations during the winter - anywhere from +50ºF to -30º. These temperature swings can be detrimental to a peony. The blankets help keep the ground frozen during the thaws and also insulate the peonies against the super cold temps.
